Description:

Responsible for providing PC software and hardware support at multiple office locations. Develop and maintain public Internet site and Intranet web site.
Performs hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications. • Orders computer-related hardware and software and maintains records of such purchases. • Assists users with Microsoft Office and other software questions on the Microsoft Windows platform. • Troubleshoots LAN and WAN connectivity problems at multiple geographical office locations. • Maintains accurate and current inventory of computer hardware and software • Maintains an adequate level of knowledge of operating systems and application software being used to provide high levels of support to users. • Prioritizes, evaluates, and answers requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies. • Handles problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution, and follow-up for routine user problems, referring more complex problems to supervisor. • Logs and tracks requests for assistance and maintains historical records and related problem documentation. • Prepares standard statistical reports, such as help desk incident reports. • Analyzes and evaluates incident reports and makes recommendations to reduce incident rate. • Contacts vendors to request service regarding defective products or services. • Tests services, software, and hardware to evaluate ease of use and whether product or services will aid user in performing work. • Writes or revises user training manuals and procedures. • Develops training materials such as exercises and visual displays. • Trains users on software and hardware on-site or in classroom, or recommends outside contractors to provide training. • Installs personal computers, software, and peripheral equipment. • Maintains security of information technology systems and data at all times and immediately reports discrepancies to supervisor. • Develops technical architecture of Web sites including scripting, database design, and user interface design. • Refreshes Web site content to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information and images.
• Stays abreast of industry trends and all applicable technologies, including scripting, security issues, authoring tools, graphic design tools, and new languages. • Integrates new technologies into Web site. • Answers or forwards to management any Web site-related e-mail questions from users. • Communicates with other personnel regarding technical requirements of Web site and upcoming projects or events related to Web site. • Analyzes traffic to Web site and recommends any necessary programming changes. • Manages transfer of files and memory allocation for Web site on the server. • Creates automatic systems of data and content storage on Web site. • Provides technical support and participates in employee Web site training. • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Ability to lift materials weighing up to 35 pounds frequently, and up to 60 pounds occasionally. Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push and pull. Ability to walk over uneven, sloped & uneven terrain. Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with the public. Ability to understand verbal and written communication. Works indoors mostly, light physical activity.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 2-3 years equivalent work experience. • One or more years of web design experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of Windows-based computers and operating systems (Latest Microsoft Operating System and Office Suite Software and Database Applications). Knowledge of Microsoft Front Page preferred. Must be able to interpret and solve complex software problems; perform basic repairs on desktop computers; communicate effectively with co-workers.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:Valid Texas Driver’s License. A+, MCP, MCSE certifications preferred.
